Some sources, strangely, describe the Francisca as both the "main weapons" of the Frankish infantry around the time of Clovis. These sources also describe the Francisca as being a fierce melee weapon. [3] See also [ edit ] For other uses, see Francisca (disambiguation). The double-headed battle axeis a shaft-hole axe from around 3400–2900 BC. It occurred mainly around Rügen in Germany and on Zealand in Denmark, as the Battle Axe culture established itself in the surrounding areas. The axe has a flared edge that became very prominent among the later types, which also gained a flared butt. The double-edged axes were always made from hard and homogeneous stones such as porphyry, and they were also finely polished. LIGHT WEIGHT, PRECISE, DURABLE, QUALITY CONSTRUCTION. The Palstave is another type of bronze axe that occurred for a short period during the Early Bronze Age (1500 BC – 1000 BC). The characteristic of this axe type is the narrow butt, which inserts into a split wooden handle. The blade is often flared and the sides may be decorated with spiral or angular patterns. The Palstave was mounted in the split end of a wooden handle and then tied in place with leather straps. This article does not cite any sources. More specifically, the Salian Law enforced that when a man died, his possessions were to be divided between his sons. And since the Franks viewed their kingdom as their king’s personal property, the Frankish Kingdom, too, had to be carved up between brothers after the death of the king. Salian Law prevented the Frankish dominions from staying together: this map shows the disintegrating Frankish realm roughly a century after the death of king Clovis [by Wikimedia user Amitchell125]When it is used in the Frankish Army, what roles does it fulfil? Is it used to protect the knight-line from enemy pikes/halbs? Is it used as ranged support? The Salian Law made the Frankish political history somewhat tragic. But at least their kings and emperors tried to adhere to the rule of law. Furthermore, the Franks had a major influence on European history and culture. It turned out to be one of the most powerful states in Western Europe during the Early Middle Ages.
