About this deal

This is going to leave you with a treasure trove of sugar at the bottom of your drink, and because of that, a drink that not only isn’t very presentable, but one that can be too spirit forward since the sugar didn’t properly dissolve.

This no-cook simple syrup is the COOLEST thing ever! In my research for creating the most delicious punch recipe,I read tons of recipes and bartending books. I learned a ton from one book in particular from a popular bar group: Death & Co.Daiquiri– I’ve found daiquiris taste fantastic with demerara. Especially if you try some of the variations like a Stiggins Daiquiri which uses a darker rum. Just note you’ll get a darker color when using this vs a clear simple syrup.

Processing: Both sugars are extracted from sugarcane, but turbinado is made by first pressing the juice. We noted above that simple syrup was not used in the original Old Fashioned recipe, but it can be a great timesaver nowadays (no more muddling!) if you use the right one.So how do you make clear ice cubes? There are quite a few gadgets you can buy online. We went the more DIY, budget-friendly route. After some research, we found this tutorial for making clear ice balls using an insulated mug. Demerara sugar contains trace amounts of vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron and B vitamins — but these amounts are not significant. Made from Sucrose Im usually wary of zero calorie sweeteners and I want to stress, this should still be enjoyed in moderation. More sweets mean more craving for carbs And often thats where people gain weight.

Demerara sugar retains some vitamins and minerals, whereas white sugar undergoes much more processing and is devoid of these nutrients ( 2). Demerara sugar is a type of raw cane sugar– like turbinado sugar or Sugar in the Raw. Demerara sugar is characterized by its large, golden-brown crystals and a mild, caramel-like flavor. It gets its name from the Demerara region in Guyana, where it was originally produced. Unlike highly refined white sugar and brown sugar, demerara sugar is less processed and retains a small amount of natural molasses. However, one study found that dark brown sugars such as demerara were a poor source of vitamins, so they may only make a small contribution to recommended dietary intakes (RDI) when consumed in small amounts ( 5).

I mean sure, you can use it in a pinch, but here’s the deal. No matter what you do, you’ll have a hard time getting that sugar to dissolve.
