About this deal

When your focus is firmly set on ceaselessly evolving in all you do, it's perhaps inevitable that some shots – no matter how well executed – just don’t quite hit the target. For many Death Cab for Cutie fans, that’s the story of the band’s seventh album, Codes And Keys.

In 1994 the band released their most influential album to date, Diary which included tunes like 'Seven' and 'In Circles', which had what Rolling Stone has called a ‘tectonic’ effect on the music scene, making Sunny Day Real Estate one of the most influential emo bands of the time, prompting Rolling Stone to rank SDRE’s Diary #1 in their 40 Best Emo Albums . Forming in 1992, Seattle based emo pioneers Sunny Day Real Estate was founded when a trio of lifelong hardcore musicians, guitarist/vocalist Dan Hoerner, bassist Nate Mendel, and drummer William Goldsmith, found their secret sauce in 18 year old lead guitarist Jeremy Enigk and his ‘supernatural falsetto’ voice. In their mature form, Sunny Day Real Estate took off, becoming one of the first Seattle emo band in a sea of flannel-wearing grunge bands. SDRE was pioneering a new sound that combined elements of hardcore, grunge and punk, with dramatic lyrics and sweeping mood changes -- the ingredients to make an early form of first wave emo.

My main goal in creating these Cutie Bracelets for kids was not to put another best friends bracelet on the market but instead serve a purpose with the Cutie Bracelets in encouraging our children to GIVE, BE KIND and show LOVE to those that may need it most. We want to see you wearing their Cutie Bracelets! You first reunited the Postal Service in 2013 for a 10-year anniversary tour . Did you expect to be doing this again? I want to be very clear that I’m not trying to cry with two loaves of bread in my hand. It was humbling and moving to see the response to “Give Up .” At this point in my life, I’m of the opinion that if you’ve made one thing that has an impact on another human being, you’ve succeeded. And the 2013 tour allowed me to be in those songs again. Being in front of people who love that album closed a circle that I needed to close.

Coming just one year after 2000’s We Have the Facts and We’re Voting Yes, The Photo Album is an album documenting a band in transition. Moving from the Pacific Northwestern sound that inspired much of their first two efforts, on album three Death Cab began to shift towards something bigger, toying with the sound that would come to fruition fully on 2003’s Transatlanticism. Post-hardcore trailblazers from Washington DC, Fugazi still enjoys a cult following across the US despite having been on hiatus since 2002. Recording their first demos in 1988, which were made available to the public in 2014 , Fugazi was one of the hardest working bands on the punk/hardcore scene, doing hundreds of shows every year.

A stark left-turn from 2008’s acclaimed Narrow Stairs towards a sonic style heavily influenced by Brian Eno, it’s their least guitar-centric album, and the last to feature original member Chris Walla (guitarist). The originators of the emo-pop or pop-punk sound, Milwaukee’s The Promise Ring started in 1996 when singer/guitarist Davey von Bohlen, a member of Cap’n Jazz at the time, joined forces with guitarist Jason Gnewikow of None Left Standing, drummer Dan Didier formerly of Ceilishrine, and bassist Scott Beschta. When Cap'n Jazz disbanded later that year, The Promise Ring became von Bohlen’s full time gig. With new guitarist Dave Depper and keyboardist Zac Rae on board, the band’s ninth album brings a distinct stylistic switch-up. Perhaps the most understated effort in their catalogue, here the melodies are pushed to the forefront, with breezy pop hooks accompanying Gibbard’s laments on gentrification ( Gold Rush) and bittersweet recollections ( You Moved Away, Summer Years).

Over the last two and a half decades, few bands have had a firmer hold on indie culture than Death Cab for Cutie. His bandmates knew there was something special about Sebastian Murphy when they first heard him sing karaoke on a debaucherous 2015 night in Sweden, where they all call home, (Murphy is an American expat originally from California.) And now a good portion of Chicago knows it after watching the oddball Viagra Boys frontman command the Roots Stage Saturday with his five equally entertaining counterparts offering their own weird variety show.
