About this deal

Whatever the case, following his revival Guilliman was determined that he would not make the same mistake twice. Seeing the darkness rising to swamp the Imperium, he launched a desperate crusade across the stars that brought him by strange and bloody roads to the Throneworld itself. Guilliman was welcomed with all honour on Terra, permitted audience with the Emperor by Aquila Commander Kalim Varanor and reinstated as lord commander of the Imperium and Imperial Regent by an assemblage of the High Lords of Terra. With new HQ options inbound, there are more ways than ever to lead your Talons of the Emperor in battle. On top of that, you can now upgrade a standard Shield-Captain model to be a Captain-Commander, granting them a host of new abilities that make them even more effective – if you can imagine that. Objective markers represent objects of tactical or strategic import that both sides are attempting to secure, such as valuable artefacts, vital supplies or communications nodes. If a mission uses objective markers, it will state where they are located on the battlefield. These can be represented using any suitable marker, but we recommend using round markers that are 40mm in diameter.

To add depth and shading to the overall model, apply a wash, such as Agrax Earthshade, over the painted areas. This will darken recesses and enhance the overall definition of the Custodian Wardens. I airbrush Citadel Mephiston Red as a highlight. You can do this with a brush but this is why you buy an airbrush because it’s so much simpler with one. Vexilus Praetor in Allarus Terminator Armor [115pts]: (Solar Watch): Sally Forth, Castellan's Mark, Vexilla MagnificaWardens come armed with a Castellan Axe and a Misericordia, with the option to trade out the axe for the Guardian Spear. When I took on Custodes I was happy that the person who I painted them for wanted something other than the classic gold. As much as I love a really nice rich gold colour, I find it pretty overwhelming on the Custodes models. Instead, I went for a striking red-dominated scheme, with darker bronze metallics. After the breaking of the Orks upon Ullanor, the Emperor returned to Terra, taking His Custodian Guard with him. The seeds of doubt He left behind among the Space Marine Legions soon became the roots of treachery, for there is darkness in every soul, and the Ruinous Powers have always known how to exploit it. Before a single generation had passed, the insidious taint of Chaos had infected a full half of the Emperor's primarchs, Horus foremost amongst them. These Arch-traitors spread the moral decay to the Legiones Astartes they led, and the galaxy was lit with the fires of strife and civil war.

Wardens I think need to be very aggressive, you’re paying a premium in points for killing power that cannot stay exposed for too long. You’ll need to use the Stratagem to Deep Strike them, but you’ll have to be smart about how to get them to the appropriate target. With the big expensive price tag, the Wardens have to be carving into the most durable and powerful units in your opponent’s army. So to get the most out of them, I’d run a unit of 5 with axes that is Deep Striking which will at least cost you 1 Command Point. Quite frankly, that high cost gives me serious pause. If I didn’t dislike the other elite unit of the Codex so much, I’d probably not take these guys as seriously for consideration. If I didn’t think that their role was so much for targeting the big nasty things, then I’d think that maybe you could get away with minimum unit sizes with Wardens. That’s not an option though here, so we need to think about bigger units and making sure that they Deep Strike into the heart of the enemy if they’ll be worthwhile. Caracalla has more accents than most custodes, but I’ll go through an abbreviated method for all of them: During the bloody years of the Unification Wars, when the Emperor launched His campaign to finally crush the last of the techno-barbarian warlords and tyrants that had held sway over Mankind during Old Night, and later, during the galaxy-wide campaign to reunite the disparate worlds of Mankind, the Emperor encountered many technological terrors, unholy constructs and vile entities, created by both Human and xenos alike, as if they had been dredged up from pure nightmare.Make up a mix 1:1 Baharroth:White and thin it right down to a glaze. I used Vallejo mediums for this, but Lahmian Medium would work just fine. You want it pretty transparent. Softly highlight the middle of the blade in a band across it. If the blade is really long you might want to do one wide band like this and then one thinner one either side. Use strokes running along the angle away from the tip, this helps it look sharp

The Legio Custodes serve as a part of the Censure Host during the Razing of Prospero, carried out against the wayward Thousand Sons Legion. The Adeptus Custodes employs squadrons of gold-hulled gunships -- some of these are the very same craft used during the Horus Heresy, painstakingly maintained and blessed each day with sacred oils and unguents. When a direct vector of invasion is called for, the Adeptus Custodes utilise Godstrike Pattern teleportarium arrays, appearing in the midst of the fray in storms of golden light. Their starships have ancient translocation bays where blessed incense drifts in the chill air, each station permanently attended to by high-ranking tech-priests and blessed to such a degree that even Contemptor Dreadnoughts can be teleported straight into battle. The warriors inside, their armour proof against the wrenching forces of this arcane technology, shake off their disorientation in a heartbeat before launching thunderous assaults their foes could not have seen coming. After 10,000 years as the Imperium’s final line of defence, the Adeptus Custodes are marching forth from Terra in force, and thanks to a new codex, you’ll be able to lead them in battle with new units, Stratagems, Relics and much more. In today’s preview, we’re looking at the elite infantry of the Adeptus Custodes, from the stalwart Custodian Wardens to the bellicose Allarus Custodians. The origins of the Custodian Guard are shrouded in myth and legend. The ancient Legio Custodes were the bodyguards and sworn protectors of the Emperor and His chosen emissaries, and when the need arose, His most deadly executioners. Genetically engineered warriors of unswerving loyalty and unshakable purpose, their might and skill-at-arms was greater even than the Space Marines of the ancient Legiones Astartes, while their weapons and wargear were uniquely potent, representing the apex of the Imperium's technology. Their history is a long one, and for centuries they have walked in the Emperor's shadow as His praetorians and the protector of His secrets.
