About this deal

Supportive but comfortable is the preferred place to be for most intermediate and advanced skiers. As we mention above, your liner will conform to your feet, so don’t be too concerned if it feels snug at first (but make sure it’s not overly restricting or that your toes aren't smooshed against the hard-sided shell.). Quality liners balance a secure fit with daylong comfort Heat-Moldable Liners

Then there’s the booster cam strap the brand used in this design. It can be cinched tighter than traditional power straps, which further improves control and performance. The Roxa R/Fit I.R. turns the notion that wide boots are clunky and heavy on its head. These lightweight, high-volume beauties use injected Grilamid in key locations of the otherwise PU shell, which cuts weight without diminishing performance. With a wide 102mm last, the boots will need minimal fit modification for most, but can be heat-molded for more volume if needed. With easy entry and GripWalk, the R/Fit I.R. boots hold their own in both the comfort and performance departments.

Value

Ease of use: As a boot fitter, it is really important to find a liner that is easy to get on and off, and these new K2 Recons are awesome. They have a PrecisionFit Pro designed liner that is pre-molded for comfort with heat-moldable foam. The padding on the tongue isn’t too aggressive but has the right amount of pressure all over. It has a great comfort design without compromising performance.

All of that technology comes together to make a high-end, high-performance alpine ski boot. And we haven’t even gotten to the best part yet. The Biggest Development in Skiing in 60 Years? The Recon ships with two heel inserts: one that’s rigid and responsive for better power transfer and a second “Harshmellow” insert that’s softer, damper, and can absorb greater impact. We’ll let you decide how accurate those claims are. But regardless, this is an exciting development. Not just because K2 is breaking some new ground, but because this could be the watershed moment when BOA breaks into alpine ski boots across the industry. Boots may be the most important piece in your ski gear quiver, and below we break down the winter's top downhill models

The 2021 Roxa R/Fit I.R. 130 all-mountain ski boot Photo courtesy of Roxa Heel Hold: The PrecisionFit Pro liners have a good snug heel cup fit right out of the box without having to bake them for a custom fit. Granted, the custom fit is what the ability to cook in the oven is for, but the heel cup is a good feel and an even better feel with a custom footbed. As expected from Salomon, the S/Pro MV 100 boasts a highly customizable and heat-moldable shell, smooth and predictable flex, and plush liner that comfortably holds your foot in place. Further, build quality is up to the French brand’s typical standards, so we don’t have any concerns about longevity. The 100-flex version should match well for anyone from ambitious beginners to advancing intermediates, but powerful or expert skiers will want to step up to the S/Pro Supra Boa (available in 110, 120, and 130 flex versions). Finally, it’s worth noting that Salomon offers the S/Pro in both narrower-width Alpha (98mm last) and higher-volume HV (102mm) variations.
