About this deal

I wont spoil anything, but what i can say is that this book oozes charm. The art is outlandish and is clearly having fun with it's alien designs, and thankfully the fish out of water trope when used isnt dull or cliche. It's not laught out loud funny but will bring a smile to your face more than once.

Oh, Crap!: The incident under A-Cup Angst is settled when Nobuo reveals he was just holding the magazine for a friend. He then promptly freaks out when the alien asks about the magazines she found focused on butts... impressive. The human-skin suits that the wife wears are clever, and in her alien form she manages to look... well, alien... but you can also see why the husband thinks that she's cute. That's not easy to pull off, considering there are tentacles coming out of her head. Full-Body Disguise: When going out in public, the alien wears a skintight bodysuit that makes her look like a human. It's even anatomically correct, even though she always wears clothes.Access-restricted-item true Addeddate 2022-01-10 22:14:27 Associated-names Drzka, Sheldon, translator; Trant, Inori Fukuda, artist Bookplateleaf 0003 Boxid IA40327223 Camera USB PTP Class Camera Collection_set printdisabled External-identifier Mrs. Makabe was born and raised in an advanced society made up of several different species, and at one point enrolled in a kind of academy for aliens planning to visit the planet Earth, therefore learning about some of the customs of Humans, which differed from those with which she was accustomed (e.g. the fact that Humans wear clothes).

As this is a manga about an alien, which features many aliens, it’s fun to see many kinds of aliens drawn as well. Most of the screentime is dedicated to bipedal aliens, but there are various other types drawn as well–slimes, animal-like, tentacle-laden, and more. During scenes outside of Earth, Miyata’s imagined other planets are whimsical and friendly. The aliens in this universe are good! Innocent Fanservice Girl: Though the alien can remember that humans are expected to wear clothes when she's sober, getting her drunk can make her forget, and try to take her clothes (and even her human skin) off in the middle of an office party. Not What It Looks Like: The very first story opens with Nobuo taking a bath and the alien cleaning all of her human skinsuits in the washing machine, when suddenly a neighbor comes to the door unexpectedly. The couple scrambles to take the alien's suit out of the washer, put it on her, get a shirt on her, and answer the door... and of course, when it opens, the neighbor seems them both soaking wet and nearly naked, gets the wrong idea, and awkwardly sees herself out. What if your wife was an alien? And what would your life look like if you had to hide that from the world? In Oh, My Sweet Alien! , by the late Kouji Miyata and published in English by Yen Press in 2018, Nobuo Makabe and his wife, the otherwise unnamed alien, Makabe-san, navigate a topsy-turvy everyday life as they live and love on planet Earth. Somewhat bafflingly, this volume comes wrapped in plastic and with an M rating, even though it isn't terribly explicit. There's one character, Venusian Madoka, who is aggressively sexual toward her crush Nobuo, and there are plenty of bare breasts throughout the book, but there's no explicitly sexual content to be found, nor any violence. Perhaps it's simply the preponderance of bare boobs that made the publisher err on the side of caution. But even the scene where Nobuo's wife finds a coworker's breast-centric porn magazines and plays with a prosthetic set of larger bosoms as she decides if that's what her husband would prefer doesn't seem all that scandalous. Oh, My Sweet Alien! is simply a romantic comedy where the couple is already together and committed, and the tenor of the art and writing, even when sexy, never loses sight of that.
