Launching the product in China this month (with Mexico lined up to follow), Nestle notes that 15% of coffee in the world is drunk cold, with the majority of this consumed by younger people, especially Generation Z. The pods are made using the same biopolymer lining used in the Neo pods. They were due to roll out in France and Switzerland first, and are compatible with existing Nespresso Original machines. The pods are certified for composting at home or in industrial settings and their lining is designed to reduce the chance of coffee oxidation whilst still breaking down in compost settings. Nescafé Ice Roast is made with 100% Robusta coffee beans that are grown and produced sustainably, with a tailored roasting profile to provide a lightly roasted soluble coffee without harsh or bitter notes.The Nescafé Ice Roast launch also follows the launch of Blue Bottle Coffee’s Craft Instant Espresso in October 2022. The Swiss food and beverage giant said the Nescafé Ice Roast product will initially debut in China ahead of being launched in Mexico.
