About this deal

Through vivid descriptions and poignant storytelling, the author skillfully develops empathy in readers by immersing them in the protagonist’s emotions and experiences.

You want to call fifteen years of pain ... fifteen years of madness, agony and rage, “spilt milk”? So should I just forget everything, is that what you are suggesting, Bill? All those promises you made in ’94, I should just forget them? (168) I received a complimentary copy of this book, but was under no obligation to read the book or to post a review. I offer my review of my own free will. The opinions expressed in my review are my honest thoughts and reaction to this book. Brooke’s mother falls pregnant again, but it is only once Ethan is born, that she has the strength to speak up. Because she knows that nobody will be able to protect him once she leaves the house.

Spilled Milk’ by K.L. Randis is a powerful narrative about child abuse and the story of Brooke Nolan. In the book ‘Spilled Milk’ by K.L. Randis, the story of Brooke Nolan is told, shedding light on the grim world of child abuse. Brooke had a couple of very supportive adults in her life in Gina and Midge. Even with these mentors, you’ve maintained a remarkable outlook in life and overcame unimaginable odds. How did you find the courage to focus on what could be and keep things in perspective?

This was a very compelling story and I could hardly put it down, but it made me so angry. I know this kind of abuse goes on and that children are victimized by their parents, but this child was also victimized by Social Services and her school. How could such agencies promise confidentiality and then do things which put her into further jeopardy? How could a school be so insensitive? In the book called Spilled Milk, it talks about a little girl her name is Brooke. She lives in New York with her dad, mom, bother, and sisters. Brooke has kept a secret. The secret was that she had been sexually abused by her father, from a young child to about the age of sixteen. The act of being sexually abused by her father is terrible. Brooke also, took more abuse in the effort to stop her father from abusing her siblings. All her life she knew something was off about her dad and didn’t understand why until she realized she was being abused. Brooke’s mother read Brooke’s journal about the problems that her and her siblings were having. She made a promise to Brooke to try to help. …show more content…Mohumagadi is the principal at an elite school. The children at this school are intriguing. Their stories have potential. However, their stories are not the focus in the book. These 10-year-olds are advanced but I suppose it supports the story notion since these children are not ‘your average’ students. This is a specially-built institution with students who are painted as bright and talented, the ones who will “change the world”. Their parents belong to the new-money generation, many are jet-setting entrepreneurs who travel the world and are mainly absent from their children’s lives and so these kids have their unique internal struggles. Enter father Bill, a disgraced priest who has been sent to the school as a form of ‘punishment’ and these errant children are placed in his detention class to atone for their ‘misdeeds’. Oh, the irony! The book provides a raw and eye-opening account of her experiences, allowing readers to witness her transformation from a victim to a survivor. After suffering sexual and mental abuse from her father, Brooke has a couple boyfriends in high school and college. Was it difficult to share intimacy in a relationship like that? Did you ever experience a distrust or fear of men?
