About this deal

Overall, we love this cruelty-free, eco-friendly option (it's sustainably harvested and completely biodegradable, after all), but it's not without its downsides. It's not the best option for exfoliation, and the natural material may not last as long as synthetic loofahs. It could also use a hanging ribbon to make for easier use and to store while it dries. After researching popular and highly-rated loofahs, we selected several to put to the test at home. Each one was graded across a standard methodology, and insights were gathered across the team to rate which loofahs were best. When testing, we noted how well each one lathered and exfoliated, how easy it was to use, and whether or not it caused any irritation. With this data in hand, each loofah placed in the category where it most excelled. Stretches out to 33-40 inches long 11-15inches width (minis are 9 inches in width). Nets are handmade so the length may vary.

This device also has bonuses built into nearly every feature. The loofah head is silver-infused, preventing it from harboring bacteria, and the silicone body and cleansing brush are naturally antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and odor resistant. The vibration—dubbed SonicGlow™ Technology—buzzes at 7,000 pulses a minute, which helps clear out pores and tone skin. There are four different settings, one low and one high, and two with a special vibrating pattern. However, when we used the vibration feature, it was a little uncomfortable to hold because we could feel the buzz throughout the handle instead of just concentrating at the end of the device. This loofah has two sides—one is very soft (softer than a washcloth), and the other is grittier. But despite the latter being rough enough to exfoliate the skin, the texture is very fine, so instead of irritating skin, it gently yet efficiently buffs away rough areas and makes skin feel super smooth. It lathers up just as well as body wash does on its own, if not a little bit better. On top of everything else, it can be thrown into the washing machine to clean, making it super hygienic and more environmentally friendly than loofahs that need to be tossed after a few weeks. Beware that the low price means it may not be as high quality as other options. Some of us felt that the material was a bit rough. Still, it’s super affordable, and it’s made out of 100 percent recycled material. Overall, this is a great affordable loofah that exfoliates gently and without irritating skin. Out of all the loofahs we tested, this was our favorite. It was very effective at cleansing and exfoliating, it was able to reach the entire body, and it’s a hygienic, long-lasting option.

Loofahs can be made of various materials, including polyester, microfiber, cotton, nylon, silicone, mesh, or even natural sponges sourced from the ocean. The best options are long-lasting and resistant to bacteria and mildew growth. This exfoliating net really doesn’t feel rough or abrasive at all, to the point that I very gently used it on parts of my face that needed some dry skin removal and resurfacing. I can’t say my body acne situation changed noticeably, and it’s hard to know for sure whether the KP on my arms looks better, but it definitely feels more soft and smooth than ever before. Considering that it’s winter, my skin all over feels more supple than usual from the combination of this net sponge and my Curel wet skin moisturizer. I can’t stop running my hands over my shoulders. Crafted from a unique mesh-like wide-weave nylon, it effectively exfoliates the skin while still being gentle; it’s not scratchy or too rough for everyday use. “It feels like it gets a deep clean like I was scrubbing everything clean,” says tester Rachel Lee. “I was impressed with how effectively it exfoliated; my skin felt rejuvenated and so soft after. It noticeably helped with any skin texture/bumpiness!”

While you may want loofah with serious physical exfoliating power to help slough off dead skin and promote circulation, a too-rough loofah can damage the skin. You want your loofah to have a soft, fine grit, explains Ross. “It shouldn’t be too rough, or it can break the skin, leading to irritation, redness, and possibly infection,” he tells Byrdie. Something like the Luv Scrub Mesh Body Exfoliator is ideal. Does not need to be washed frequently but can be washed weekly in the washing machine or hand-washed. Hang to dry. According to Omas, the company’s net sponge is an excellent exfoliator to cleanse and get rid of dead skin cells. It dries almost immediately after use, making it more hygienic and less likely to build up bacteria than a loofah. It’s also machine washable, can be used for up to two years, and it’s long enough to reach every inch of your skin. That’s a lot to live up to.For an everyday, super foamy shower, this loofah is the best. Body wash lathered up significantly more than it usually does, making the skin feel clean and soft. Thanks to the fine mesh, it’s not rough on the skin whatsoever, but it has enough texture that it gently exfoliates and softens without irritation. One thing to note is that the gloves feel pretty small and tight when you first put them on, but after the initial use, they do stretch out a bit and become more comfortable.
